You moved into a home with a pre-existing home security system
Sometimes when you purchase a house, a security system is already established. All the devices function well, are installed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might find that you have to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to make sure there are no usability issues, and they might offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a fast trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up fee to make your life a snap. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, transferring the security contract may be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your home security components with you
You might want to bring along your old home security components with you to your new place when you move. It should be pretty easy to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are portable. You can remove each device yourself or use a Vivint installer to come and take down your devices. Then our installers will set up the same features -- and any additions you want to have -- in your new place. Your home security contract will keep the same.
